Male in 30’s with lumps on breast area

Hi everyone I've decided to seek opinions on a worrying aspect of my health. I've recently discovered two lumps on my left breast area. One big one under the nipple where there is a thickening and a lump in the middle. It's difficult to find as it's deep enough inside the tissue to require abit of a press to really feel it. I then have a smaller lump above the nipple. To the left of it. I know this could be several things but I'm very worried. I seen a doctor this morning (he wasn't my GP) he wants to refer me to see a specialist. He will write to my gp seeking this referral. My question to you all is has anyone had a similar experience to this and what was the outcome? Thanks

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you have some breast lumps that are worrying you.

It is good to reassuring to hear the doctor will refer you to get these checked out and this is important. There could be a simple reason for this such as a build up of fatty tissue or a breast cyst, that also commonly occur in women but equally something more serious like cancer also needs to be ruled out.

I'm assuming the specialist department you are seen by will examine the lump then carry out an ultrasound to find out what the lump may be being caused by. From there if needed they can take a biopsy of the lump (tissue sample) to be examined more closely under a microscope to determine what it is.

Most lumps aren't the result of a cancer so try not to over think things and instead take one day at a time.

Please get back if needed and you are also welcome to call our nurse helpline on 0808 800 4040, Monday-Friday 9-5.

    Best wishes
