Immunotherapy

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience in receiving this type of cancer treatment or supporting a relative going through this treatment?
My mum has gone through quite a brutal cycle of chemo and is now receiving immunotherapy (although I am unsure what specific type). Her first treatment was 3 weeks ago and she is very weak. Could anyone offer any insight into their experiences?
Many thanks in advance

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your mum and the tough time she has been having on treatment.

There are quite a few different types of immunotherapy and how it affects one person will be different to someone else so it can be hard to compare.

If you could find out the name of the medication she is on we may be able to pin point you to more specific side effects linked to that drug, other wise you may find it helpful to take a look at some information about immunotherapy here.

Unfortunately most cancer treatments come with some side effects but how bad these are as I say can vary greatly. It is important your mum lets her team know about any side effects she is experiencing and how she is feeling so they can assess her and support her along the way.

I wish her all the best but do get back if you have further questions. If you prefer our helpline number is 0808 800 4040 and you are welcome to call us 9-5 Monday-friday ( except bank holidays).

    Take care

    Naomi
