Do I have lymphoma?

Hi

Im new here and wondered if there's any doctors out there that might be able to put my mind at ease? . I've been having symptoms for a few months now that are worrying me and are not being taken seriously by my GP. I have been using Google for the symptoms which probably isn't a good thing to do but Google keeps pointing to Lymphoma matching my symptoms. I've got swollen lymph nodes in my neck which have been there for many months, shooting pain in one of them which comes and goes, shooting pain in my pelvis and top of my legs sometimes, night sweats and I am constantly unwell with sore throats, chest infections and absesses. I currently have a wisdom tooth infection and also have new swollen lymph nodes the size size grapes which which movable and tender so I am wondering if they are related to the infection.   I'm looking to pay privately for a diagnosis but I worry for the worst :( I had a full blood count with the GP and it came back that I had anemia which I know can be related to Lymphoma too. I'm loosing weight and am always tired. I'm so worried and am always in tune with my body and just do not feel well in myself :(

  • Hello and thanks for posting.

I'm sorry that you have been feeling unwell with chest infections, abscesses and now a wisdom tooth infection. That can make you feel incredibly low and rubbish. Unfortunately I don't know what can be making you feel so unwell and tired all the time but I would say that having all those illnesses would have an effect.  When we have infections or bacteria in our system, our nodes in our neck and groin can feel sore, swollen and lumpy, as they are part of the immune system. So it may be that's why they are feeling tender.

Any symptoms that you put into google will come back as some form of cancer, as any cancer can have any symptom, but the internet cannot replace being assessed by a Doctor. Give your surgery another call and ask for a telephone appointment, go through with them your anxieties and concerns about lymphoma. You have said you Doctor had done some bloods, so they can't be too concerned about the results as they would have acted on them, but do talk through again all your symptoms.

Health anxieties can be very difficult to manage, if useful I've placed a link here which may help.

Take care Nic,  and I hope you things improve for you.

    Sarah.
