Breast dimple?

Hi!
I guess I'm hoping for advice on whether to go to the doctor about a dimple or a couple of dimples I've noticed. I've also been getting really crusty (discharge) from my nipples lately but I had my little boy 20 month ago and assumed it was random milk leaking (which would be odd as my milk struggled to come through and I didn't breast feed anyway). Also, I have both nipples pierced so put it down to one of those things.
today I've noticed my breast looking slightly different in shape and then also noticed a couple of dimples which are hard to photo.
I had a benign lump removed years ago in my other breast but before we knew it was benign the doctors sent me for emergency tests which was a bit worrying at the time. So you can see why I'm a little anxious about finding this.
Anyway, any advice would be great. Thank you!!

  • Hi Charlie,

Go and get checked by the GP! Any breast changes are worth checking out even if it turns out to be nothing. Better safe than sorry.

    Wishing you all the best!!

  • Hello Charlie and thank you for your post

I can appreciate your concern for your breasts but I am afraid that I and no one here can tell you if there is anything serious the matter. It is unlikely that there is so the best thing to do to hopefully get peace of mind is let your GP know. Make a routine GP appointment and discuss your concerns.

I hope you will be okay.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care

    Hi Charlie,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I would agree with our Cancer Nurse Caroline and with PositiveT. I am not a doctor, but I would expect that any discharge to do with the birth of your son, should have cleared up after 20 months.  Any breast change should always be investigated, so please contact your GP as soon as you can. Our breasts do tend to change shape after childbirth, so let's hope that this is all, but you are best to check this out, if only for your peace of mind.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you to all of the replies!

    Hi Charlie,

I am glad to hear that you have seen the doctor and been referred to have further tests. I hope that you get a date through soon. Try to stay as positive as you can. Don't start Googling, as this will only scare you.  Much of the information is poorly researched, inaccurate and out of date.

Please let us know when you get an ap[pointment through. In the meantime, remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
