Aspiration and biopsies

I had a large cyst on left breast aspirated, I was then told I had thickening on right breast and possibly calcification, I went back 1 week later and had 2 core biopsies done, had 2 markers put in,  all came back clear and it was just fibrous tissue, but wanted to do a vacuum core biopsy, 4th Jan, talk about take forever and uncomfortable to the point it was painful. The biopsy took out a marker which they replaced, 3/4 times the needle went in which was the thickness of a pen. I was told I'd be bruised again, my breast went from red, purple, black brown green and yellow, 3 months on I still have a shadow bruise on part of my breast and a dip, where the biopsies where taken, I occasionally get pain in the breast, results where all fine and clear, but it worries me why I keep getting sharp pains, no lumps, going from my breast into before my armpit.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

It's good that all the biopsies that were taken came back clear. Although bruising, pain and discomfort is common for a few weeks, I'm afraid I can't explain why you are still experiencing sharp pain in your breast. The breasts are very sensitive and some people may take longer than average to fully heal.

Probably, the best thing to do is to speak to the staff at the breast clinic for further advice. Hopefully, they will be able to reassure you. If you have difficulty contacting the breast clinic your GP may be able to help.

I hope things improve for you soon.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
