Hi 

I'm 53, currently on antibiotics as my left breast it painful and swollen, stabbing pain at top of breast near, but tenderness on side near armpit and under breast,  no other symptoms as yet. Pain only really started about a week ago. Last night was awful to sleep, didn't know where to put it !!

I also am being treated for a frozen shoulder, which is extremely painful. Sleep hindered as well.

Medication and anti-inflammatory gels being used for both shoulder and breast pain. 

I'm also taking HRT and been on them since December, all ok.

Nurse practitioner said it breast pain gets worse I can call her and she will refer to breast clinic, however if I don't contact her she will call me I'm ten days after antibiotics have finished to get an update , if no better she will do referral then.

My confusion is....

When I asked her if she thought it was something to be worried about her reply was this ...

' it won't be cancer as there isn't a lump, and your breast is very painful , and breast cancer doesn't present with pain!??.

I had already looked on this site for information before attending my appt, do I knew what she told me wasn't wuiey right !! 

Im a little shocked by her reply and ?? Lack of knowledge. I work in health sector, were always told if we're not 100% sure or font know , then find out before tell patients ! 

Im happy with my treatment so far, re antibiotics, telephone calls and ? Refer if needed, but her advice to Breast cancers have me a little concerned tbh.

Has anyone else had similar symptoms? 

Did it improve with meds, did swelling go? 

Were you refereed to breast clinic?
