Changes to tip of nose?

Hi all, I'm having FEC-TPH treatment for IDC grade 3 breast cancer. I don't know if I'm imagining things but the tip of my nose seems less fuller so the lines of cartilage are more prominent.  Has anybody else noticed these changes?? The rest of my face is the same but I know I look ghastly at the moment due to temporary sleep deprivation from the dexamethadrone! I've been comparing my nose to previous pictures and there's definitely less fat around the nostril so you can see the cartilage ridges from the side which would normally not be seen as much. I can't find any info online, anybody else experienced this??

Thanks all

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I'm not sure that you will find very specific information from other users about this. Chemotherapy and steroids can affect the face and alter fat tissue distribution. Some patients experience changes in their body weight too. This can change again when treatment stops.

You mentioned dexamethasone. Try to not take it later than early/mid afternoon, as taken later it may then it may disturb night time sleep patterns.

I hope that the rest of the treatment goes well,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda

  • Hi Vanda,

Many thanks for responding,  it sounds like it is probably the steroids. I will keep an eye on any changes and see how it goes. Thankfully I've taken the steroids now for this 2nd chemo session so I am sleeping mostly through the night now. It's only during those 3 days of steroids that the joy of insomnia hits!

    Thanks again
