I am sorry to learn that your ultrasound scan results aren't clear cut and can understand why this is worrying you, but I am not sure if anyone other than the gynaecology team will be able to shed more light on what was seen.

Nurses aren't trained to interpret ultrasound scan reports and the things you are asking about look like the sort of descriptive terms that these reports usually contain. I do know that fibroids usually start in womb tissue and can grow out into the adnexa (a region around the womb) and that they can be pedunculated (attached by a stalk).  But I'm afraid I can't tell you what the other features that you mention might mean or what it is that has triggered the referral.

Having to wait for more clarification is inevitably unsettling and stressful. I hope your appointment comes through soon and that everything turns out ok.

Thanks for getting back.I appreciate it and completely understand.

I have thyroid cancer and under observation...still in couple of nodes.

And having to go through another cancer  ( which is very aggressive) shakes me a little.Hard not to think anout my family especially my children.

I have my first appointment tomorrrow with the gynaecologist.

I shall update , so that it may help others.

Hope all goes well with gynaecologist. Just to let you know that you can get large benign fibroids (mine was the size of a coconut - had hysterectomy)  - and although that's not great, it's dealable with. I know you will be worried with having cancer to deal with in the first place, and any growths anywhere apart from hair and nails are not so welcome!

Sorry to hear, you had to go through the painful procedure.

Yes, I also had a 17cm large pendunculated fibroid in 2019 and went through mymectomy.

However, in the previous couple of scans in 2020 and 2021 there was no mention of fibroids and all of a sudden a large mass in irregular structure appeared to be in the right adnexa.

My symptoms are bloating,heavy pelvic ( like period cramps), sometimes I find it hard to completely empty my bowels.I also noticed my appetite is not how it used to be, I feel full after eating a little. It could be due to fibroid?

Yes my fibroid did affect my bowels big time - as it was putting pressure on them. I would get a lot of pain lower back and in my tail bone. I think if you get constipated it affects your eating too - as you get bloated and just feel rubbish. I think sometimes when the fibroids are on the inside you get an idea how bad/ big they are as they would make you bleed more, on the outside they just give you pain and make you feel huge! Mine was on the back wall of my uterus - so it was pressing on my lower bowel at the back and I always felt intense pain at my tail bone - to the point it almost felt numb. I spent the last few months pre-hysterectomy on daily laxative sachets to try to keep things moving. It was an interesting time!

I can tell you are worried as you are up at stupid o'clock like me. I can't sleep waiting for test results to a biopsy - and I am only in the first few days!

Sorry to hear that it was troublesome for you, I can imagine how awful it must've felt. Anyhow, I hope it's nothing serious.

I've been to the clinic yesterday, she says it could be degenerating fibriod . However I'll get a call to book for MRI within 2 weeks. Bloods were taken yesterday to check my kidneys for MRI contrast.

Let's see where it goes.

Waiting is hard. Hopefully you'll get good news in the end!

All these tests and checks are so slow aren't they! You have got a lot more information than I ever got from anything that has ever been done at an NHS hospital. I am still waiting for the lab report that was going to be sent to me for a cyst I had removed back in April. So far I have been on to them several times - I know it sounds quite sad but I am prone to growing rather large benign growths - a fibroid included. I hope they do keep a good eye on you - these things can get very large indeed if not kept in check. If you feel that this is causing you pain and discomfort then don't put up with it!
