Moveable and fixed are descriptive words used to make a clinical assessment of a lump. A fixed or immovable lump can't easily be moved around in the tissue where it is found.  In general fixed lumps tend to raise more of a suspicion of cancer than movable lumps, so your are correct in assuming that what your doctor said was positive, but I doubt if this is an exact rule of thumb all of the time. Most cancers develop slowly and don't pop up overnight. 

Unfortunately for now, there is no way to find out anymore about this lump,  hopefully they will be able to tell you what it is on Thursday but waiting can be hard on the nerves.  I hope they can put your mind at rest.
