Unfortunately, we can't give you a specific medical opinion on this. Do speak with your GP again about this, and see what they suggest moving forward. 

It can sometimes be due to vaginal atrophy, and this can last for a long time. This is a condition in which the tissues lining the inside of the vagina (birth canal) become thin, dry, and inflamed. This is caused by a decrease in the amount of oestrogen (a female hormone) made by the body.

But ask your GP about it. If they think it warrants further investigation, they may suggest tests, or a referral to a gynaecologist.
