Worried

I've had a couple of LLETZ procedures to remove abnormal cells over the years which hasn't worked.  Just had a letter saying a consultant wants to see me in 4 weeks following my latest biopsy but no indication as to why.  Would they really leave me 4 weeks if they'd found cancer? I was hoping to try for a baby soon so hoping they're not going to suggest a hysterectomy, I'm only in my 30's.  Having to wait 4 weeks to find out is really worrying me.

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I can appreciate your concern but I am really sorry to say that we cannot throw anymore light on your situation.

I am not sure if it would help but I wonder if you could contact the colposcopy unit (if you don't have their number go through the hospital switchboard)  where you had your biopsy taken and ask them. They may have more information about your situation.

Being called back does not mean you necessarily have cancer or need to have a hysterectomy but I know this is worrying you so I hope you find out more about this soon.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
