Scared… covid and cancer

Hi everyone, I've been in remission for 4 years and got covid 2 weeks ago... I know some people get it worse and it makes sense with all the treatment but I'm so scared, I've never felt so awful not since the cancer anyway. The pain has been excruciating to the point I was planning who to give what to when I die. I'm so worried about complications... I'm just not getting any better. Has anyone else had similar issues? I'm tired of worrying, if I don't improve by Friday im calling the docs but just need a little reassurance if possible. I might just be being silly but if anyone could shed some light that would mean so much... I'm worried my cancer is gunna come back or it already has. Please help if you can... I hope you're all ok

  • Hello Bex

I am sorry you are having such a difficult time with covid.  As your symptoms have persisted I think you should get in touch with your GP to be on the safe side.  But I did want to reassure you, that as long as you haven't had any immunosupressive cancer treatments like chemotherapy recently, and you didn't have a blood cancer like leukemia or lymphoma in the past, (it looks from your previous posts that you had a gynecological cancer rather than a blood cancer) you may well not be at any greater risk from covid than anyone else.  But as your symptoms are persisting do talk to your GP.  It may also help to contact NHS 111 (if you live in England, Scotland or Wales) and seek advice from them

    Take care

    Martin

  • Thank you for your reply Martin, I think I will call my doctors like you said to be on the safe side. If only just to put my mind at rest, usually im never this sick even if I do get sick im bad for one day then I start to get better but then I suppose this is something totally new I've never been in contact with. It's just knocked me for six, everyone else around me has got better already im just very anxious is all.
    Thank you,

    You take care too,

    Bex
