Stomach cancer T3, second round of chemotherapy FLOT

Hi

I am T3. I will complete FLOT chemo - then operation to remove stomach.

Had my first round of chemotherapy 12 days ago, due next one in two days time.

What experience has anyone had during second round. Are side effects worse? Is this when I lose hair? Is there more nausea, or less?

Any contributions very welcome.

Thanks for your help and good luck

  • Hello Joe and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to hear you are being treated for stomach cancer, this can be a difficult time so I hope you are OK.

Most of the side effects of chemotherapy are not cumulative, this means they won't necessarily get worse each time you have treatment. However, hair loss or hair thinning may develop as the treatment carries on. Also fatigue is often something many people will experience while undergoing chemotherapy.

You are given anti-sickness medication but if it is not doing a good job at keeping nausea and vomiting away do let your chemotherapy team know. You should have a set of telephone numbers to use if you become unwell or need to talk to the chemo team.

We have information about the FLOT regime and the possible side effects, you can see it on our website here

You might also see that posting in another area on Cancer Chat will generate more replies from people undergoing cancer treatment, you can see these areas on the left of this page.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
