Collarbone hard irregular immovable lump

I noticed it about a month ago, when feeling my clavicle, but on my left collarbone about a centremetre from the end of it is a very irregularly shaped hard immovable lump, you cannot notice it from looking in the mirror however it is very prominent when running your finger along, it is very small but i just cant find an explanation. I had general  blood tests ran for different reasons a few weeks ago (after discovering the strange lump) and i came back with a healthy blood sample, not sure if it would detect something like a bone tumor. I don't want to go to the doctors because they think i have medical anxiety due to the amount of times i have called them up about various things. (18 yr old male)

  • Hello there

I am sorry to hear you are worried about your health and in particular this lump you can feel.

There can be many reasons for lumps and bumps in the body and most will be harmless. At your age any cancer would be extremely unlikely so there is probably a harmless explanation for this lump.

No one on the forum can tell you the reason I'm afraid and I suggest if it changes or gets worse or you notice any other symptoms you get them checked out by your GP.

It is good your recent blood tests all came back normal, often a series of tests are needed to diagnose something more serious that may be going on. However doctors are in the best position to assess symptoms and then to arrange the most appropriate tests.

Whilst it is good to get to know what is normal for you in your body so you can get any changes checked out, it is best not to prod and poke about too much or spend too much googling symptoms, as the internet cannot tell you what may or may not be going on and can make people worry unnecessarily.

Do speak to your GP again if this continues to bother you.

    Take care

    Naomi
