PCOS/GROWING LUMP ON ABDOMEN CONCERN

Hi I'm an 18 year old female and in 2020 October I had an ovarian torsion due to a large cyst which, when taken out,  apparently filled a small cup. Since first getting periods(2016) they have always been irregular and I have always had issues with pain and discomfort in that area.

In 2018 I found a lump on the left lower side of my groin, about where my ovary is,  but thought nothing of it.In 2021 it had doubled in size at least so at an exam I mentioned it to the gp and they said it was "because of shaving". The lump is still growing and hurts to be pressed on! It also hurts during intercourse sometimes.

I worry that this growing lump is not being taken seriously and it's been effecting my mental health since the Torsion in 2020.

How do I deal with this? I've had no support it feels like and is worry about my feritily and general health.

  • Hello there

I am sorry to hear about the issues you are having and imagine this lump is getting you down. I'm afraid no one here can diagnose you or say what the matter is but lumps are common and usually have a simple reason that isn't anything as serious as cancer.

I suggest however you arrange another appointment at your GP surgery to get this looked at again.

You can ask to speak to a different doctor. It is important to discuss the lump you have and how long it has been there, how it is changing and it's impact on your everyday life.

I am sure they will want to examine you and if needed can refer you on for more tests.

I hope you know more soon.

    Take care

    Naomi
