I am also testing positive, and should have had my second chemo today.this has been postponed till next Saturday provided that I have a negative test around Thursday or Friday.

it's very upsetting when treatment doesn't go ahead, but the nurse said it's very common to have to postpone treatment,

Thank you for your reply. Can I ask if your unit are asking for a negative pcr test or lateral flow test. I am still testing positive after 9 days and tjought I might be over it by now. I have been informed that after covid I could test positive on a PCR for up to 3 months. 

Don't think I've got the hang of this site yet. I've sent a reply but it hasn't registered it. I am going to retest myself tomorrow or Tuesday. They are booking me in for Saturday. I don't feel comfortable leaving it another week. I just feel like I have a cold. My husband tested negative after seven days. As if we haven't got enough to deal with.

I can imagine waiting to restart chemotherapy must be so frustrating. I can understand how annoying this must be for you.

Unfortunately with other vulnerable patients in the hospital they have to protect other patients and members of staff treating patients.

The hospitals are having to follow strict infection control measures to protect vulnerable patients and staff looking after them. We have some information on our website about Corona Virus and treatment which you can look at here

The lateral flow tests are not considered as sensitive as the PCR tests which you can read more about here

I would talk to the nurses and doctors looking after you and explain your frustrations. Maybe as time goes on these policies maybe reviewed.

I do hope that your next PCR test is negative so you can continue your treatment.

It's somewhat ironic then that was infection was acquired at the hospital. It is the only place I had visited the week prior to becoming symptomatic. Thankfully, my wife remains negative.
