Hello and thanks for your post,
I am sorry to hear about your mum. This must be a difficult time for your family.
There has been so much research that has gone in to treating breast cancer but each case is treated very individually. It is really only your mum's own doctors or your mum who will be able to tell you more about the stage and grade of her cancer which you can read more about here
There are so many different treatments that are now available to treat breast cancer. I am not sure whether you have had a chance to look at our website about the different treatments which you can see here
Breast Cancer Now also has some useful information about treating breast cancer which you can see here
I can understand that it can be uncomfortable having these discussions with someone close to you but hopefully as time goes on and your mum knows more about her situation hopefully she may feel happy to share more with you.
Sometimes it can help (and if it is allowed because of covid) to attend a clinic appointment with your mum. You would need her permission if you want to talk through it all with the nurses and doctors looking after her. Your mum may have been given a Breast Care Nurse and they are a useful source of information but again you would have to get your mum's permission.
I do hope that some of these links may be helpful. If you want to chat any of this through with one of the nurses on the helpline then do get back to us or give us a ring. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Take Care,
Catherine
