Hysterectomy and self isolation

Hi,

I am due to have a hysterectomy on Wed 23rd for Endometrial Cancer. I'm a bit confused as to the current medical guidance regarding self isolation.

I was booked in for a hysteroscopy under GA on Feb 11th. I was advised at my Pre Op appt that I needed to have a PCR test 3 days before but would not be required to self isolate.

This time, the PCR has been booked in for Sunday but they were unable to fit me in for a pre op appt till Tuesday ( the day before). So not sure where I stand.

what advice were you given by the hospital prior to surgery? Not looking for opinions, just what other hospitals are advising please

Hi!
I had to do PCR three days before surgery and isolate for the three days
That appears to be the policy at my hospital but I guess these do vary!

Have a second surgery next week so same drill....PCR Tuesday, isolate, op Friday!!

Hello there
I am sorry to hear you are having a hysterectomy in a couple of days, this must be an anxious time for you.
Sorry for the delay but the nurses don't work weekends. Alongside what other forum users have said it is my understanding that most people will be asked to self isolate for a few days prior to an operation and this seems to be what is happening across all hospitals.
