Hpv

Hi two years ago i went for a smear test my results came back that i had hpv and abnormal cells i went for a colposcopy and no concerns but they wanted me to have another smear in a years time to keep an eye on things.i went for the smear a year later still had hpv but no abnormal cells but ive recently had another smear still have hpv and abnormal cells again so went for colposvopy and they took a biopsy still waiting on results. Ive come to terms with having  hpv but thought after 2 years i thought it would have gone i know there isnt a cure but have read that certain immune boosting vitamins can help can anyone suggest anything to take that may help please?

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

Unfortunately we do not know of anything that can help the body get on top of HPV quicker. We do know that smoking makes it more difficult for the immune system to get rid of it, so we always suggest giving up smoking, but otherwise it is just time.

It has been reported that about 10 % of HPV cases can take longer than 2 years to clear, but as long as you are in the screening programme, and attending when you are asked, then that is all you can currently do.

The internet has lots of information, but it isn't all necessarily useful, and can cause more harm and confusion than good. If you do want to search then stick to well known websites that provide accurately researched information.

Take care, and hopefully you will know more from your biopsy results soon.

  • Hi hope you are well I am just wondering how your biopsy results went last year ? Did you manage to shift the hpv

    xx

  • Hi Dawn,

I noticed you were hoping to hear how Sophie got on with her biopsy results last year.

Unfortunately she hasn't been on the forum since making this post in March last year, so there's a chance you may not get a reply.

I really hope that won't be the case, but if Sophie doesn't get back to you then you're welcome to start your own discussion about this or reach out to others on more recent discussions about HPV.

    Kind regards,
