Hi, I have noticed skin dimpling on the skin of my breast. I am 14 years old and have servier health anxity! the dimpling looks like orange peel around my breasts with a few deeper ones here and there. I am very worried and having sleepless nights over this. Can anyone help?

    Hi and thanks for your post

    It would be extremely rare for anyone of your age to ever get breast cancer. Your breasts are still developing and you will notice a number of changes , especially over the next few years.

    If you are so worried, have a chat with  your mum or any other trusted adult. It's not unusual to not know what you are looking at and whether it's normal or not  and a visit to the GP if you remain so anxious might be best.

    I hope you have been able to talk about your severe health anxiety with someone at school, at home or at the GP as it must interfere a lot with your day to day life - there is help available. Young Minds website might be worth looking at here

    Thank you so much for replying,

     

    Is it normal to get breast dimples when you are growing? I have been to see a doctor they have said eveything looks fine but i am unsure why i have them. IN addition to the dimples i have breast pain that goes down into my under arm and ithyness.

     

    I am speaking to a councceler at school.

    Hello and thank you for getting back in touch,

    We are all different and we all have something different with our bodies.  Also, pain is not usually associated with cancer. In young women breast pain is usually caused by hormone levels. 

    You did the right thing in getting checked out by your GP, if they were concerned you would have been referred to the breast clinic.

    Please do try not to worry and see the counsellor, you have mentioned, at school, hopefully this will help. Remember that you can also always go back to your GP if you are still worried about it.
