Non urgent breast referrals can take many months before patients are seen in clinic therefore if someone presents to their GP with breast changes or a breast lump they will often be referred under the 2 week wait referral guidelines.

Most people referred this way won't go on to be diagnosed with breast cancer but it is important any breast changes are checked out sooner rather than later, just to be on the safe side.

If you continue to be worried then do ask to speak to your GP again to clarify things with them.
