Cancer or headaches?

Hello I am looking for some advice as I'm really unsure what to think.
I have recently been getting headaches ( 6/8 months) they have usually been mild and no other symptoms of anything. But lately I have had ALOT of headaches I have a headache everyday from the moment I wake up till the moment I fall to sleep. The headaches can be so pain like someone is constantly stabbing me in my brain over and over, I have been to a&e 2 days ago where they found something abnormal in my blood work it is showing that my ESR is very high. I have spoken to a dr about this but he doesn't know I have had a second opinion and he doesn't know either. I had a CT scan 2 days ago and everything looked clear.
the symptoms I have:

sharp, stabbing head ache.
memory loss.
sickness.
blurred vision.
stiff neck.
Sensitive to lights.

loss of balance.
I also get very confused when speaking.

The dr has referred me to a neurologist  but the wait is very long due to Covid and I can't stand being in this much pain.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

There are many reasons that people get headaches like straining of the eyes to see or read on a computer screen, stress and changing hormone levels can also bring on headaches. Most of these will usually settle after a short while and won't be anything too serious to be worried about.

It is only natural to be looking for answers, but really only a doctor can assess you and decide what is and isn't wrong. As you've had a recent CT scan and everything was normal, your headaches are unlikely to be anything to be worried about. But if they persist over the next few weeks, then do make an appointment again to see your GP again. They may consider referring you to a headache or migraine clinic for further advice.

In the meantime, there is some useful information about headaches on the NHS website here . More severe headaches can often be due to cluster headaches and you can read more about these at this link.

I hope things improve for you soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
