Melanoma

Hello.

I know that no one on here is a doctor or anything.

I was told on Friday that I need to have blood work done this Monday. My 3 toe nails on my left foot and 2 on my right have got vertical dark streaks in them. One of the toes has a lump under neath. But my big toes have a growing black mark. I've now noticed on my finger nails dark vertical streaks appearing. Some being faint lines all the way down the other just small streaks

I was wondering if anyone has had this or know what happens from here

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I’m afraid it is not possible to diagnose what might be the matter on here. But for what it is worth, I don't think that subungual melanoma (nail bed melanoma) is all that likely. Firstly it is rare, and a melanoma would normally only be growing on one nail and not on several at the same time. Nail changes can sometimes be linked to other conditions such as fungal infections and possibly vitamin deficiencies.

If needed your GP may consider referring you to a skin doctor (dermatologist).

I hope you know more about your situation soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
