Should I see the doctor or am I overreacting?

So, I started getting pain after sex about 6 months ago but put it down to having 5 kids... also started spotting after sex. Recently, last 2 months I started bleeding heavily between periods and my discharge has become really foul smelling. I've also had back and pelvic pain for a while. Just to be safe, I had STI checks, all negative, treated myself for BV and thrush but nothing has changed... no other issues but I feel like I'm ticking a few boxes.

  • Hi,

please see your doctor if only to put your mind at rest. Best of luck xx

  • I would ring my dr tomorrow if you have a smelly discharge that needs treatment. They are your best source of advice. You will probably have a return  phone call from them they are prescribing over the phone. They can refer you to gynaecology if you need it,

l hope you have help from your GP soon

  • Hi and thanks for the post

There can be a number of different explanations for bleeding after sex  - there is some information about this here   but it's always best to get checked out by the GP who will also be able to have a look at your cervix.

BV (bacterial vaginosis) sometimes may need antibiotics so although STI checks have been done, high vaginal swabs may need to be repeated. Hopefully, you are also up to date with your cervical smears.

So do make an appointment and I hope all goes well

    All the best

    Wanda
