  • Hello and thanks for your post

Liver nodules or lumps are quite common and may be nothing to worry about. If people without health problems were scanned many would be found to have nodules in organs. In many cases these are benign (non-cancer related) but in a small number of patients it might mean that the cancer may have spread to the liver. So they will need monitoring to ensure that the specialists get a good look at them to see exactly what they are.

Doctors follow clinical guidance when looking at liver nodules. This helps them to decide what types of nodules need to be followed up to see if they change.  It is often the case of repeating scans and monitoring any changes in the nodules.

I think the best thing to do would be to talk things over with your specialist team. They should be able to discuss how you will be followed up and will decide what the next steps are.

Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,
