Hi....i had a needle biospsy yesterday......i feel the swelling in my neck as got so much bigger and the area around it is quite hot....should i be worried ?
I am sorry to hear you are undergoing some tests at the moment.
It is common to experience some swelling, pain and sometimes bleeding to the area after a needle biopsy but this should settle within a few days.
If this doesn't improve or is getting worse, and you feel unwell with it then let your doctor know or call NHS 111 for advice, in case you have developed an infection.
Thank you for response....doc wasn't sure but she gave me antibiotics anyway.....day 4 of them and the swelling not really gone down and it's tight and sore to touch.....should it it not be better after 4 days ?
If it was an infection the antibiotics would most probably have started to work, though it can take longer in some cases for them to kick in.
It may be an inflammatory response causing the tightness and swelling though it's not really possible to say.
If you remain concerned and it looks like it's getting worse ,do go back to the GP or ring 111 for further advice if it's out of hours. Hopefully the biopsy results will be back soon and you will know a little more.
