Cancer worries

Hi my name's Emily. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and pretty soon after there was talk of treatment but that didn't happen because it was advanced and spread. I'm a bit worried it's spread more because I really don't feel well at the moment and I'm having problems with my memory, forgetting so many things like my daughters birthday. My boyfriend says my behaviours are a bit random and different to and I have the worst headache ever right now.

Just wondering if you are familiar with this and know if it's where the cancer is spreading or if it's something else?

I know I should really reach out to my care team but I suffer really bad with my nerves from severe anxiety and just talking on the phone causes an attack so I don't want to unless it's really necessary.

I hope you can help me.

Best wishes,

Emily.

  • Dear Emily and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your different symptoms and the anxiety that this appears to be causing you. I can also understand the fear that you are feeling that the symptoms you may be experiencing may be related to your cancer. Feeling stressed about our health can also make symptoms worse.

Neither the nurses or any one on the forum can tell you what your different symptoms mean, but it may be helpful to talk to either your GP or your breast care nurse. Even though you say you are worried about talking to someone on the phone, it may help to get some form of symptom relief to help your bad headaches.

If you are worried about speaking on the phone maybe your boyfriend could arrange a face to face appointment with your GP so you have not got the anxiety of speaking to someone on the phone.

Do try and reach out to the nurses and doctors involved in your care as that is what they are there for.

You of course are welcome to ring and speak to one of the nurses on the helpline if you feel that would offer you some support. Our number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take Care,

    Catherine
