Anyone know of targeted drug Osimertinib/Tagrisso?

Hello,

My Mum has lung cancer (not been told the stage yet but it must be stage 4 as spread to both lungs and right lymph nodes) and we were told next month she will start a targeted drug called Osimertinib (Tagrisso) as she has EGFR mutation. I have looked on this website at all the cancer treatment drugs and it is not listed so I am now worrried why.

Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.

  • Hello Jane and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to hear about your mum.

I am also sorry to hear that you were unable to find information on our website. This is because it is a new targeted drug. It has been approved for use in 50 other countries after a successful clinical trial called Adaura 111.

We have more information about why it was approved on our website here

I see that the charity Macmillan have some information about this drug and how it should be taken  here

I hope that this information is helpful. Hopefully when she starts the drug next month the nurses and doctors will explain more about the drug to her and any potential side effects.

You are both very welcome to ring one of the nurses on the helpline if you want to talk any of this through.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the Best,

    Catherine

  • Thanks Catherine, will look at your link and have a read.
