Should I get checked

I’ve had a lump on my arm now about 6 weeks, I didn’t think anything of it but been to see my Nan yesterday and she told me to get it looked it at as could be skin cancer. Obviously now I’m thinking the worst but also don’t want to waste doctors time if it’s nothing. I have put a picture of it as my avatar.

I thought it was a spot or bite at first but it doesn’t pop or weep it has a scab on and skin is dry and flaky around it and it does itch every now and then it’s not constant. It’s raised off my arm doesn’t look like the borders are straight.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

Any lump or skin change, or area that doesn't heal, should be checked out by a GP just to be on the safe side. They are very experienced at looking at skin conditions. Because of the current pandemic GP’s are offering telephone appointments initially with their patients.

They may ask for a phone photo to be emailed to them to have a look at the area of concern. If they need to see you they can offer you a face to face appointment. Most of the time, skin conditions or lumps are nothing to worry about, but its sensible to get it checked just to be sure.

    Kind regards,
