swollen neck gland

I'm having frequent panic attacks about my swollen neck gland. about november october 2021 after i had a bad cold i found a swollen lymph node below my ear on the left side of my neck, i could and still can move it around and it was painless. i also found a moveable lump on the side of my right jaw. i got a blood test a couple weeks later and they said i had low neutrophils which i believe are white blood cells, but it could be due to a viral or bacterial infection so i had another blood test scheduled for february 2022. i got covid on december 31 2021 and i was fine. it's currently february 2022 and my neck gland is still just as swollen, i had a blood test yestarday and am waiting for the results but i'm so worried. i'm constantly looking up different cancers and thinking i have them. over the past few weeks i have had sinus like issues, facial pressure, eye and nose irritability but nothing serious. recently over the past few days i've had weird neck pain around the gland but also a bad ear ache around the swollen gland, accompanied by a headache at the left side and back of my head. i have such bad anxiety and am really worried, im not sure if my anxiety is bringing on worse symtoms because they have got worse since my anxiety about cancer.

  • Hi and thanks for the post

Anxiety about symptoms can really affect your day to day life and I hope you manage to get some help about how best to manage this.

Swollen lymph nodes are very common, especially if you have had any infection, inflammation cough or cold - although sometimes they can come up without any explanation. Hopefully you'll get your blood results back soon, but do have a chat with the GP about your concerns. If necessary, they can always  also do an ultrasound on the node.

However, it's a good idea to get to know how best to manage your anxiety - there is a good website here - Every mind matters  - that may help you for starters.

I hope things start to settle down soon for you

  • thank you so much!

my symtoms calmed down when i walked to college and saw my boyfriend so i feel as if maybe my anxiety makes the symptoms worse as they're only bad when i'm alone and especially at night. i have had bad ear aches and head aches on the affected side of the head. my ears feel very full and heavy so i'm hoping it's just a viral infection that's causing everything.
