Back and belly pain

Hi I have recently had abnormal bleeding after a bowel movement, it was only three days of abnormal bleeding but was enough to send me to the internet to see if there is anything I should be worried about and it came up cervical cancer I am 26 this month and have just booked my first smear test, but whilst researching I have seen other symptoms and have been having back pain for around a month but I am unsure if it's linked as I have a 1 year old who I am constantly picking up. But also am scared so just want to know if anyone can help to ease my mind by letting me know how your back pain presented itself as mine is mild and constantly there but if I bend over to pick something up it will get worse as I assumed that is just a normal back ache but can't see to find anywhere if the lower back pain worsens or feels kind of better with certain movements or if it's constant and only gets worse with time, please if you could get back to me it would help a lot as my worst fear since having my baby is leaving her without her mum

  • Hello there and thanks for the post

Try not to worry too much, symptoms can be caused by so many different things and most won't be anything as serious as a cancer. The internet cannot diagnose anyone and often leads people up the wrong path that causes even more concern.

The best thing people can do is to speak to their GP about any new, worrying or ongoing symptom to be checked out. They are the best people to assess you and what may be going on and then to arrange the most appropriate tests if needed.

I'm pleased to hear you have booked for you first cervical screening and during the appointment the nurse will be able to view the cervix and if they notice anything unusual they can refer you straight to colposcopy. But at the same time do let them know about the bleeding you had recently and of course if this happens again or you notice anything else speak to your GP sooner.

Back pain is common and can have so many causes, as you say having a young child that needs constant holding and picking up could be adding to this but do mention it to your nurse or doctor as I say so they can build up an overall picture about what may be going on.

Avoid googling any more and speak to the nurse or doctor when you can and see what they say. Hopefully everything will be fine so try not to let your thoughts run away with you.

    Take care

    Naomi
