Lump in left breast with pain

I'm 27 years old and recently found a lump in left breast near my armpit, it's painful to touch.

I have itchy skin and sometimes it feels as if my nipple has created discharge, I went to the GP they noticed a considerable change in breast tissue when I was checked out I explained everything I was experiencing but they weren't concerned because of my age.

I'm normally a fit and healthy person but I'm constantly feeling tired and have a nerve type pain in my shoulder and stiff achey neck. I've also noticed so many bruises when I have no reason to have bruises.

im freaking out and I don't know what to do, do I seek another opinion from a different GP. I feel like every ache and pain is causing me such anxiety because I don't feel like I was listened to because of my age

thanks for taking the time to read :)

  • Hi and thanks for posting

It can be stressful suddenly experiencing new symptoms, but these don't have to be associated with cancer - there can be other reasons .

If the GP felt a lump, usually, you would be referred to a breast clinic- not because they think it's cancer but to see if it's a cyst or benign(not cancer) lump, which would be more common in your age group.

It may be helpful to go back to the GP to ask whether they will refer you to the clinic if the lump is still there after your next period(as lumps can come up due to hormonal changes before your period) and if not, you can always ask for their reasons.

Also discuss your other symptoms and as you're tired, sometimes a blood test will show if you're a bit anaemic , which again, can be common in younger women. You can always ask to see another GP in the practice if you'd rather.

I hope things settle down a bit and you are able to have a good discussion with the GP

    All the best
