After chemo and radiotherapy, it will take people different amounts of time to get their immune system working properly again, so it's difficult to say what may be happening in your case, regarding how healthy your immune system is by now. It's usually best to avoid known active infections, if you can ,after cancer treatment though.
If you have had chickenpox in the past, you should be protected, although it's possible to catch chickenpox twice. If your grandson's spots have scabbed over then he shouldn't be infectious. Usually, it's best to ask for further advice from the nurse specialist or GP as they will have all your medical details to hand including if you have any other health conditions.
