Black lesion on tonsil

Hi.  I have a feeling of a lump in my throat that doesn't go away.  I have a swollen tonsil and a small, black lesion on it.  I spat some blood up this morning.  I struggled to even get a phone call from a GP about this, and the doctor that called me said to just gargle salt water for 2 weeks and see if it goes away, but I feel like I should at least be examined.  Please let me know what you think.

    Please cause a sing and dance angels get someone to see you face to face .I have had and got again mouth cancer.It is a worrying experience but get checked by G.P.and then a referral to specialist, Good luck

    Unfortunately, as nurses, we can't give you specific medical advice as such. You could book another GP appointment for a couple of weeks time anyway, for a review. Tonsil cancer is in fact very uncommon, and most tonsil issues are due to inflammation or infection. If your symptoms change or get worse in the meantime, then contact your GP again sooner. 

    You can ring NHS 111 for medical advice too.
