Burning and breast pain

I started having burning in my left breast about 5 weeks ago. It then turned into a sharp pain along with the burning. When I spoke to my GP she advised cream for a week then an examination a week after. Unfortunately I got covid so couldn't attend my appointment. 5 weeks on I get to see my GP. She found 3 small lumps plus a mole on my breast that's a funny shape. I've been referred to breast clinic and skin clinic.  I don't know what to do with myself, I can talk to my family because I do t want to worry them. Had anyone else had these symptoms?

I'm feeling really scared

  • Hi Sam and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you have and appreciate they must be a worry.

It is good to hear you have been referred to both the breast and skin clinic to get these checked out.

Try not to over think or worry too much if you can for now. There are several reasons for breast pain and breast lumps that are harmless and not the result of breast cancer that you can read about here and here including muscle/rib pain and fibroadenomas.

The breast and skin clinics will both be able to assess you and carry out further tests if needed to find out more. Take things one step at a time. People often say keeping busy and your mind on others things can also help at times like this.

There will be others on here who will have similar stories but the outcome may be different to yours so it is impossible to compare really.

I hope you know more soon but do get back or give us a ring on 0808 800 4040, 9-5 mon-Fri if you prefer.

    All the best

    Naomi
