Lletz procedure and no period for 6 months

Hello, I had a lletz procedure in July 2021 with very heavy bleeding afterwards that lasted more than 4 weeks. It has been more than 6 months now and I have not had a period. Is it normal ( I am 30 years old)? I don't seem to be able any info about it. I was advised by my GP to wait for next smear test.

    From what I can understand the lletz procedure should not affect or stop your periods. You are probably due to have a smear quite soon as it is over 6 months since your lletz procedure. We can't diagnose you but it maybe helpful to wait for the results and then go back and discuss the lack of periods (amenorrhea) with your doctor to see what they say.

    They may suggest further investigations such as an ultrasound if your periods don't appear to be starting. There can be many reasons why periods stop. The NHS have some information about this subject which you can see here

    Hey I had my cin 12 and 3 treatments Xmas eve no period no issues came back as normal had the healing was absolutely fine all of a sudden I have no period this month now same pains n feelings I had before last period 17th March five days not since usually normal. Now I'm worried my follow up is June. I thought pregnancy but says no so now I'm worried it's this aging my smear was fine it was late as five then was abnormal cin 1 and 2 sever dysphasia then two weeks late had spread my walls had surgery lletz everything healed I felt normal now I don't now I know it's not pregnancy I'm worried is this normal?

    Hello and thank you for getting back in touch,

    Having a LLETZ procedure does not cause periods to stop. The best thing to do now is to talk with your GP about not having a period for 6 months. Your GP may want to offer some investigations into why this happening.

    Please be reassured that by attending your screening appointments you are reducing your risk of developing cervical cancer.
