Raised psa after turbt

Hello I had a turbt procedure on Tuesday  to remove reoccurring  bladder tumors.

On Wednesday my nurse at my doctors took bloods for my routine blood screens. The doctor called today to say that my level has jumped from 5.6 to 17.

Could this have been caused by the procedure.

The doctor suggests  a retest in 4 weeks.

  • Hello Steve and thanks for your post

It is possible that your recent TURBT has affected your PSA levels. It is usually recommended that a PSA test should be done at least 6 weeks after surgery to the bladder or prostate. You can read more about this on Prostate Cancer UK's website at this link.

I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
