Could it be lymphoma ?

Hi

I wanted to chat and seek other peoples experiences. I have swollen gland's supraclavical and also under my arms and twinges in my groin for almost 6 months. Had recurrent infections in the form of four colds, two of which were very heavy leading to chesty coughs and lasting about 7 weeks each, plus two UTI infections almost all back to back. Had GP appt in November as concerned about neck swelling but they said probably swollen due to recurrent infections but I expressed concern if the other way round. Had bloods early December all came back OK. Also experience hoarseness in voice which comes & goes. Christmas Day started with pulsing in my ear which is still ongoing. Saw practice nurse who expressed concern about neck swelling and called for GP to view and she made USC referral to ENT. Although GP said quite possibly fat pads. Have had ENT telephone consultation  and now awaiting clinic and CT scan. Consultant expressed due to no weight loss not too worried. I'm not overly worried and take some comfort from that however have fleeting thoughts of what if ?
I would be interested to hear about other peoples experiences and symptoms.

  • Hello Shorty05 and thanks for posting,

I don't know if anyone else will come along and post, but if they do, I think you have to be cautious about what you conclude. This is because symptoms caused by cancers often cross over with similar symptoms caused by other conditions, so you might not be any the wiser.

Lymphoma can be a potential cause of swollen glands (lymph nodes) but so can other things, particularly infections. When different symptoms are going on like your swollen glands and the pulsing in your ear, it is natural to assume there is a link, but there doesn't have to be.

Try to take it one step at a time, this CT scan and ENT appointment will shed more light on what is the matter and hopefully soon.
