Lump in neck

So back in September i found a lump in my right breast, went to the doctor and was told its just a lump after doing an ultrasound. 3 months later i find 2 more lumps but this time in my neck, one is larger than the other and is behind my jaw just below my ear, the smaller one is lower down on my neck. I went to see the doctor and was sent for a blood test and everything came back normal but i have no idea what they tested for. Doctors believe its an infection that's inflamed my lymph nodes but im not to sure. For the last couple of weeks ive felt fine apart from low energy, low mood, my appetite decreased(its always been low though) had a cold that was horrible, some night sweats, skin itchyness, gross amounts of phylum, a cough that has stayed after the cold and some others. Going back to the doctors next week for my check up on the lump but im worried the doctors aren't going to do more tests. When i first noticed the lump i didnt really have any symptoms so told them i wasnt having any but now i am. The bigger lump has decreased in size and i can move it around my neck by touching my chin to my chest and then using my fingers to hold it in place. The smaller lump is the same size if not a tad bigger, its not painful to touch or play with but i do get this pulsating feeling sometimes where the bigger lump is. Im worried i have cancer but the doctors dont think i do and im scared they will just say its a lump and then do nothing esle about it. Im scared and worried because with covid the amount of people i know who have been told you have cancer that were going to the doctors for months but the doctor didnt do anything about it and now they are just waiting to die because they didnt catch it fast enough. Im 22 f and i am a smoker What do i do ?

  • Hello Becky182 and thanks for posting,

I don't know if the doctor will want to arrange any tests, but try not to anticipate what they will say as it will probably only add to your worries.

Wait to hear what they think, and if they don't want to arrange tests, ask them why not, tell them you are worried about cancer and take it from there.

Different cancers show themselves in different ways, whatever happened with the people you know might not have much of a bearing on your situation, so try not to dwell on it but let your GP know this is on your mind.  As a general rule cancer is rare in someone of your age so hopefully there isn't anything serious the matter.

For now try not to overthink it as dwelling on things can make worry worse.

    Wishing you the best,

    Julia
