Throat infection keeps coming back

Hi , 

I have had tonsillitis/ throat infections now 5 times since October and it has now come back again for a sixth time. I also have a sore neck when I move it and have started to get very worried that it is something serious. The GP has been doing consultations over the phone and I keep getting antibiotics,  it gets a bit better but then comes back. In October I didn't have a sore neck but the last two months my neck hurts when I move it and feels a bit stiff . Im getting worried and normally I don't worry that much about things. Has anyone had the same or can advise anything please , thank you

    I am sorry to hear about the ongoing problems you have had with your throat and appreciate it must be bothering you now.

    I think the best thing to do would be to get in touch with your surgery again and politely ask to be seen in person so they can properly examine you.

    Whilst telephone calls can be useful to gather information about lots of ailments sometimes people do need to be seen in person, especially when things are improving or getting worse.

    There is still a chance it is infection but it is probably a good idea for them to take a look and some swabs to make sure you are receiving the correct antibiotics if this is the case. If on the other hand they are concerned about what they can see or feel they may wish to refer you on for some tests or to an ENT ( Ears, Nose and Throat) specialist for their input.

    Most symptoms won't be the result of cancer so try not to over think this too quickly but do get seen when you can. Failing that call NHS111 for advice.
