Anyways  since then ive been told by the dermatologist im down for a 2 week rule appointment. I went numb when she said that and cant even remeber what else was said to behonest i come out the hospital and was in tears and still am now and that was only friday i was told. Like everyone else my anxiety is at its worse. Ive had mutilpe panick attacks and just feel so frightened and lost.

I have a little girl who is 2 and the thoutht of leaving her breaks my heart. I cant stop thinking the worse ive had to call in sick for work like i cant even control my emotions i just keep crying.

I dont even want to go to the appointment to have my mole removed  i know i have too but waiting 2 weeks is going to mentllay drive me insanse.

I keep googling and then im in tears again and angrx that the doctor missed somthing years ago !!

I needed a rant and maybe some nice words as i cant relax and im making my whole house sad which is breaking my heart even more i feel hopeless :((((

  • Hello there

I am sorry to hear you are undergoing some tests and it isn't unusual to be feeling the way you are right now. Many other people on here are going through something similar to you and it can be a very scary and unsettling time especially with all of the waiting and not knowing, and it is about finding the right support and things to help you through.

People are referred under the 2 week wait if something is suspicious as this is the quickest way someone can be seen and tests carried out but most people referred down this route won't go on to be diagnosed with cancer.

Moles can change over time and yes in some cases abnormal cells will turn into cancer but until you have had more tests and some tissue sample of the mole is looked at ( a biopsy, you might not need this) no one can say for sure what this may be for you.

Doctors are very used to assessing skin and moles and there is a system called ABCDE here that they use to check these out and refer patients on to a dermatologist if there are concerns.

Try and keep yourself busy if you can and distract your mind as this can help. It is important to take care of yourself and if you have friends and family around you then do share how you are feeling with them as I am sure they will want to support you in any way they can.

Hopefully you will know more soon but do get back in touch if it is helpful and you are also welcome to call our nurse helpline on 0808 800 4040 if you prefer to talk over the phone. we're here Monday-Friday 9-5.

I really do wish you all the best and hope everything works out okay for you.

    Naomi
