Hello nvamps1 and thanks for posting,
HPV is a very common infection which most people's immune systems clear within a few years. There are several different types of HPV that the screening programme tests for. Although you have had your 3rd positive result, it may be that over this time interval you have cleared up one type of HPV up and subsequently picked up another which you have yet to clear up. Cervical screening is all about prevention, I think the key thing is always to attend your screening invitations. And because screening can't be perfect, report any new symptoms such as bleeding after sex to your GP, but I don't think you need to worry unduly.
It is up to you what you say to your partner. In men there is no test and there is no treatment for the types of HPV that the cervical screening programme looks for. Many women worry about how a partner will react. I think this may well depend on how much their partners already know about HPV. Since HPV testing has been brought in, more people have come across it, but some might not have. I am not sure if anyone else will come along and post about this - I hope they do, I think it can be a dilemma.
If you haven't already come across it, another charity's website, Jo's Trust, has a section about HPV including Q&As , which you can find at the link below.
