Lletz results

I had a cervical screening last June. It showed HPV and high-grade (moderate) dyskaryosis. I attended a colposcopy appointment. I was told after examination that there was nothing abnormal but offered Lletz due to my age 55. The results showed " no CIN or HPV-related. Dec 1st I had a further cervical screening and received my results on 12th Jan these were exactly the same as my first and I have a further colposcopy next week. The first one was very traumatic for me and painful and so I am trying to get my head around it. Has this happened to anyone else after Lletz and is this normal as my results of the biopsy were essentially negative?  Any advice would help me as I am sending myself crazy thinking about it.

  • Hello and thank you for getting in touch with us.

Having the same screening result that was done as a follow up after having the LETTZ procedure is not usually seen.

I am afraid it is now about going to the colposcopy clinic and getting your cervix checked out again. I realise that the last time you went it was traumatic for you so do let the person doing this know before you have it done. For the majority of women it is an uncomfortable procedure but for some women it can be a more difficult investigation and treatment to have (if you need it) have especially if you are worried about it.  Therefore you might find the information and video that another charity called Jo's Trust has on their website is useful to look at before going for your appointment, you can see it here

I hope your appointment goes well and do get back to us if you need any more information. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
