Pain and lump upper right abdomen

I have discovered quite a large lump on my right upper abdomen and the pain sometimes radiates through to my back.
have tried to get appointment for GP, but they are refusing to see anyone until a few weeks time when their first face to face appointment is available.
very worrying and I don't want to tell family just in case. Anyone ever had anything similar?

  • Hello Paulo73 and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn about this lump and can appreciate why finding it together with having the pain has caused some concern.

I am not sure if anyone will post with something similar, if they do, bear in mind that you might not be able to infer much from someone else's experiences as their situation could be completely different. Most symptoms can occur for a variety of reasons, and although everyone tends to worry about cancer there are often other explanations for whatever is going on.

I was surprised that your GP isn't seeing any patients at all at the moment, while quite a lot of people have told us they are struggling to get GP phone appointments, we have heard from some who after a phone consultation, have been asked to go in to the GP surgery to be seen and examined.

Abdominal lumps need to be reported to the GP, and sometimes after being assessed,  the GP may want to arrange tests or a referral which can take time. So my thinking is not to hang around and try to speak to one of your GPs in the coming week in case this is what they decide to do, but it might not be.

If you want to talk anything over please do give us a call on Freephone 0808 800 4040, we are around weekdays 9-5.

    Wishing you the best,

    Julia
