High-grade severe dyskaryosis

My smear's results were high-grade severe dyskaryosis (positive HPV) after a week I did a colposcopy and was clear, the doctor couldn't find anything abnormal. She put liquids, change the speculum to check the vagina, goes deeper investigated all areas... It was awful... I've done colposcopy twice before and I didn't feel anything even the biopsy. This time it was hurt, she took punch biopsy and removed polyp even she didn't see anything bad and she said " it's not good your smear getting worse (my previous low grade) now high grade and I can see anything so I can remove it". We will wait for the biopsy's result but she doesn't know if it doesn't match what we can do. Has that happened?

  • Hello Sandy and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn that this colposcopy examination was so unpleasant. You did well to get through it.

Smear results, colposcopy examinations and biopsies often match up with each other, but they don't always so this sort of thing can happen. When it does, they usually review all the results and put them together to decide what to do next. I think all you can do for now is wait for the biopsy results and see what they say.

I appreciative that things like this can be unsettling until you know what the plan is, I hope you hear something soon from the clinic.
