Skin cancer

Hi I'm waiting to see a surgeon about a few skin things on my chest, does anyone know how serious this is? I've several of them one in particular that's size of a five pence, red, bleeds and painful, more a starting out to grow just like that one, dr said she was going to chase things up, should I be worried?

  • Hello Rose-Leigh and thanks for posting,

I can understand you asking, but it isn't possible for me to say what these skin things on your chest might be, so I don't know if you need to be especially worried about them. The best person to ask is your doctor.

In general, some skin things have nothing to do with cancer and some are classed as precancerous so aren't much of a worry. There are different sub-types of skin cancer and some are more concerning than others.

Waiting for appointments to find out what is the matter often causes a fair bit of worry, but at the end of the day when the doctors decide what is going on, it may not be anything too serious. I think dealing with uncertainty can be unnerving and even stressful. I hope you find out more soon.
