  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about the different symptoms that you have been experiencing. I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for you.

I am not sure whether you had the hysterectomy because of your abnormal cervical cells or whether it was for a different reason. Usually after a complete hysterectomy when a smear is performed, the cells for the test are taken from the top of the vagina, near where your cervix was. Your doctor may call this a vault smear.

Very rarely abnormal cancer cells can come back in this area.  You may have been  offered tests at 6months and 18 months after your hysterectomy. If everything was  fine, you won't need any more tests after that. You can read about this on our website here

Irritable bowel syndrome affects so many people so this may well be something that is unfortunately affecting you. The NHS information about this condition here

Try and make a food diary to see if there are any food stuffs that make the pain worse. I would also  see if you can ask for a face to face appointment with your GP so they can hopefully examine you and put your mind at rest.

I do hope that you are able to make an appointment soon.

    All the Very Best,

    Catherine
