Colonoscopy anxiety.

I have just been in for this procedure and everything was going well until the doctor tried to insert the camera. The pain was unbearable and had to demonstrate by digging my nail into my hand with force to show that it was nothing compared to the pain of the camera going in. It felt as if it was tearing through skin. I'm so sorry to post such a negative response but feel so alone with this. My wife was furious with me saying it must have just been my anxiety which it really wasn't.

I'm glad that other posts were more positive but now worried why mine was so excruciatingly painful.

Would love to hear from others if they can help.

  • I have them yearly and I find them ainful. Some people do and others seem to find them not too bad.

I always have sedation and gas and air.

They now use a tiny scope which is thinner, still painful but not as bad.

I find the bloating pain really bad after they blow you up with air.

Hope you got good results afterwards.

  • Hi and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to hear the colonoscopy was so painful  - some people do find it a difficult procedure to get through. You'll see that others have also had a bad time of it and it doesn't mean that it's because there was anything of concern.  It's difficult to say why some people find it ok and others don't - I wouldn't read too much into this as people are just different.

The main thing is to wait for the results - hopefully all will be clear and you won't have to wait too long.

    All the best

    Wanda
