Hi I am male and was diagnosed with ET 5 years ago...can you tell me if it is safe to father a child... i.e impregnate my partner? Or is it know to be harmful. I take 1g of Hydroxycarbomide daily.
We do know that the drug hydroxycarbamide may affect the ability to father a child. But it is not possible to predict the exact effect this drug will have on your fertility as it may depend on the dose of the drug given.
I would suggest you try and speak to your specialist team to see if they are able to talk through your wishes of trying for a baby. They may be able to share with you other patients’ stories who have been in a similar situation or may be able to discuss the options moving forward.
