I saw my doctor in November as I have varicose veins, I've had varicose veins for years, but recently they have become painful, so my doctor said he'd do me a 2WW to the vascular surgery clinic. I've still not had an appointment and the number they gave me if I hadn't heard without 2 weeks, the number just rings and eventually cuts off. I ring my GP and they say keep trying the phone number, I have been trying for weeks now. Can anyone suggest what I can do now? Thanks

    I am sorry to hear you have very painful varicose veins and that you are waiting to be seen by a specialist at the hospital.

    I suggest you speak to your GP surgery again to let them know you cannot get through to see if they can chase the appointment for you. Failing that you could try and call the main hospital switchboard and see if they can try and put you through to the right department.

    If you have no success and you wish to complain then you could contact the hospital Patient Advice Liaison Service PALS that you can read more about here.
